Thank you for posting that about the comments and “fly-bys” and spam. That has been my number one frustration with Thursday Thirteen at times. It’s obvious that some people don’t even bother to read the list or try to leave a comment that pertains to the post.
I’m going to try to participate tomorrow.

This is my first official Thursday Thirteen. I made a list the Thursday before, but now I have all the right links and everything in place. I haven’t gotten into any other ongoing meme, but I like the 13 because it gives you a chance to explore a theme rather than just touching on it. I’ve found it makes it more interesting to write, but also to read. By number 8 people are starting to stretch themselves to think what more they can say, and it feels like I really am getting to know them a little better.
I just realised it’s still Wednesday wherever you are, but the date on the comments. I guess this means I’ll always be early, because it’s already Thursday here in Australia!

Keeping the Sun out of my eyes, and the shirt is sooo soft and comfortable; I like wearing it to Tai Chi! One day I’ll get a picture up.

How many more rules are you going to add to the list? Sometimes I’ve got nothing to say and I am one who believes that if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. Some people’s TT piss me off, especially if they are overtly religious or political and they don’t align with what I believe or think. In those cases, I try to be as neutral as I can on my comments and end up saying “interesting list” or “nice list.” They are just lucky I don’t say what I really think about their list.
I’m also aware that others who visit my TT might feel the same way, so I don’t get ticked when someone flys by. Although, I have gotten some rude comments from other TT participants…I didn’t appreciate them and I’d have rather they just didn’t say anything at all.
I thought this was supposed to be a fun thing…the more rules that are added, the more the fun factor goes down. I just don’t see why people have to be sooo picky, just be glad that someone came by and said something nice because they couldn’t think of something else to say.

The thing is that I generally like the majority of Thirteeners, and I visit some of them on a regular basis. I don’t agree with some of what they say and on those, I just say “nice list.” If I didn’t come by, they would wonder why. My other point is that I’ve gotten rude comments myself and I would have rather they chose the “X”, but instead they were snide. And you know, I moved on from it, I didn’t complain about them to TT!
If there continues to be this vibe of “your comment isn’t good enough”, I will probably move on from this meme at some point. I just don’t understand why people have to be so touchy and so picky. Enjoy life people! Life is too short to be picky about what kind of comments you get. You have to be real bored with life to worry about things like that.

Last week was my first week and I will say, it was very discouraging that no one bothered to even comment on mine. I did everything the way I was supposed to and visited lots of others (and left comments). I think the linky thing is nice, but I did wonder if that makes it effortless, so that people don’t bother to really read. On the other hand, sometimes my creative mind isn’t working and it is hard to come up with comments other than “Great list!” Still, I try to say “Great list! I love # . . .”
My attitude is: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
Since then, a few people have left comments and I will definitely visit their posts.
